Children of Ponies by SubjectNumber2394 Children of Ponies by SubjectNumber2394
Ponies crossed with my favourite film. If you don't know what this is, it's a ponified scene from Children of Men. If you have seen the film you'll probably notice I've left out something from this scene. I left it out because I didn't want to have to put a mature rating on this or at least wanted it to be fine for all ages.

I was going to use a Zebra as that would fit the movie better but then realised it had to be contained within a single species for it to really work. So I chose Derpy.

By the way, someone should make a cross over fic of this story.

MLP:FIM belongs to Hasbro.

Am I the only one that gets a feeling of Bioshock from this? The first game, that is. When Jack first pulls up to the lighthouse?

I actually doplan on making a fanfic of the movie. There were two complications though.

Should it actually be remodeled to having only one unicorn left who can use magic since not just all of magic is dead in the world, but even procreation (to understand the original concept) is too. And the only way to bring back procreation is to have one unicorn perform magic or be forced to. Seeing how both sides (Gov't and Extremist) were bad.

The second concept is similar to this, but Zebra being used for example that would mean not only was she snuck into the borders, she now has to get out.

Sorry for the late reply. That part was fantastic but my personal favorite scene is the single shot car scene.

You could say that all of the ponies can't have foals.
Then you could use a zebra.
Its your picture do as you wish.

Looks great.

What would have been the thing that would make this rated as mature? Just curious. I've never seen Children of Men, so... yeah.

It would have been a dead or dying pony bleeding out into the boat, quite a bit of blood. Definitely see the movie if you get the chance though!

Its not you... its me... they got me. I sent this to my friend who is a Brony as we just finished watching children of men. Nice job. Would there be a chance of a mature version of the pic? Just curious.

It's a little tricky to explain how much I love this. Ponies crossed with one of the best movies of the 2000s? Yes please. Ditto the fic idea. I actually wanted to get into it (or a sort of spin-off where the pegasus/unicorns are all gone and how the earth ponies try to make it on their own, that sort of thing), though I'm busy with another one right now. And it's telling me I'm not quite a good enough writer to cover the themes noted above by Tape :P

Still, where someone to make one, my grimdark-loving self would totally read it. And once more, wonderful work here 8)

The unicorns and pegasus disappear? Thats sounds like a cool idea actually. It would take alot of planning and a very thorough understanding of both the film and the book to be able to pull off a cross over fic like Children of Men. Also thanks for the compliment on the piece, and the watch!

Man, this sort of crossover would be grim-dark up the wazoo. The addition of ponies would probably emphasize Alfonso Cuaron's quiet theme of hope throughout the film, but the political and cultural commentary necessary to convey the magnitude of the narrative would probably put "Fallout: Equestria" to shame.

In any case, you've done well in establishing the mood of the final scene; softness in line and form tend to do that. I don't quite understand why a pony equivalent of Theo isn't in the boat alongside Ditzy Doo, but I won't nitpick a one-shot like this one.

"Grim-dark up the wazzo" - You've got that right, especially once they reached Bexhill. If someone did write a crossover fic with this, it would require quite a bit of planning IF they were to try and include all the same themes and mesages the movie/book was trying to get across. Although if they were to just take ponies and put them into the story then that could be fun too. Though not as meaningful.

/spoilers for anyone else reading this.
Thank you for the compliment! I was not sure whether or not to add Theo but I decided against it for 2 reasons, 1: I didn't want to have to flag this as mature. Now while this may almost sound disrespectful to the film, I make this art for the MLP:FIM fandom and I was hoping to have this included in an EQD drawfriend (which it was yay~) but that wouldn't have happened if I had drawn a dead pony. The other reason is that while many people have seen the film, many have not, and this picture would have had a completely different context to what it was supposed to have if you had not seen the film. Instead of hope, it would have been a pony, in a boat, with a dead body....kind of gives the wrong idea. I hope I've answered why Theo isn't in the picture, he is sort of important to this scene.

Indeed, this scene only lasts about 10 minutes of the entire film but its an important one. In fact 'mysterious' works very well to describe this scene. I recommend watching this film if you ever get the chance, can be a bit full on a times but worth it.
