Hey guys!

So lately I haven't been uploading very much and there's a few reasons why.
1 - Commission work
2 - Collaborative projects
3 - My tablet broke. Yeah, the one I've been saying will break for the past half a year.

Took me a bit to find a good one to replace it but I have a new one now.

Uploaded a new comic this morning. This makes 4 comics in a row so I'm now working on a Derpy/Doctor family picture. I also have to update the Early Equestrian more often, it's drifted into one update per week. And considering how small the updates are that's not good.

There's still about a month and a half before uni starts again. In that time I hope to find a job, or at least some volunteer work.
Ponycon is pretty much secured now so maybe I'll see you there if you're going!

And now, I have some Project Horizons to get back to reading; thanks for reading, and if you're a watcher: Thanks for watching! ^^

Merry -whatever you celebrate- everyone, even if it's not actually today. I hope you all have an adequate day with your family and/or friends!

Commission Info

Journal Entry: Sat Dec 8, 2012, 7:32 AM

Hello guys, gals, and others! Next year I'm hoping to get to Ponycon, but to do that I need to pay for travel expenses. So I've started commissions! If you're interested in commissioning me then continue reading below for all the information you need! If not, ignore this journal and stay tuned!

>--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------<

How it'll work
  1. Send me a note here on DA with what you're looking for; including all characters, background information, mood, character references, style (lined/full shaded), additional notes. The more descriptive you are, the better!

  2. On the chance I'm already doing a commission for someone else I'll let you know when I might be able to get back to you. If I can't estimate when I'll be free I'll contact you when I do get the chance to see if you're still interested.

  3. I'll let you know if I'll draw your commission (see conditions) and we can work out the details.

  4. If the commission is accepted, I'll need payment before I begin. This is both to protect me and to motivate me to finish your commission sooner! Everyone wins!

  5. I'll send you an update or two during the process for feedback and to make sure I'm not going in a completely different direction to what you want.

-------------------------------------------------

Conditions

What I will draw:
- Most things not under 'What I won't draw'!

What I won't draw:
- Gore
- Explicit nudity
- Heavy OC X canon shipping (Sorry! Just a pet hate of mine.)

(Note: These are largely guidelines. If you're not sure, ask! I might make exceptions if what you're looking for is tasteful or I like the idea)

Ultimately I am the one drawing it, so if I don't think I have the ability to draw it or I just don't feel comfortable drawing it then I wont.

-------------------------------------------------

Price Range

Line Art: $10 (+$5 per additional character)
- with colour and shading: +$10
- with background: +$5/$10 (based on complexity)

Platform-5

Full Shading: $50 (+$15 per additional character)
- with detailed background: +$10/$20 (based on complexity)

Fluttershy in Field

Poni:
1: Flankcaster, an Australian pony podcast, has released a new episode. Featuring me! :iconpinkiepieplz:

Episode description:
In this episode the Flankcaster Team discusses the art stylings of Subject Number 2394, as well as Equestrian crime and the Canterlot underbelly

I haven't listened to this episode so I probably sound like an idiot (all the more reason to give it a listen!). I have, however, been listening to their stuff for a while; it's a great, entertaining cast! Definitely check them out here: [link]

2: I missed this, only found it a few days ago. The Cutie Art Crusaders did an episode on Roseluck with my Roseluck piece as one of the featured pictures. They actually know what they're talking about too!

Non-Poni:
1: I saw the new James Bond movie: Skyfall. Apart from some minor things which bugged me it was really good. I enjoyed it a lot!

That's about it; thanks for reading, and if you're a watcher: Thanks for watching! ^^

GAK for President/Prime Minister!

*cough* Anyway...

Poni:
- The new season has kicked off! It looked like there were some minor hints throughout the episode of something big for the season finale. I'm interested already.

- Weekly comics again! Back throughout most of season 2 I did a weekly comic for each episode as many other artists did. Well I'm hoping to keep going with that for this season as well. Gotta start thinking of this weeks...

Non Poni:
- I have almost finished all my exams, just one more on Monday. :iconfluttershyyayplz: yay~

- Went to Supanova yesterday. It was a ton of fun, and I even got my first pony shirt!

That's all this time. Thanks for reading, and if you're a watcher: Thanks for watching! ^^

Short but important journal time!

Pony: It's the last 3 weeks of the university teaching period which means it's gonna be pretty flat out. In fact I'm pretty much going to ban myself from drawing anything for the next two to three weeks while I focus on the assignments that are due. After that it'll be onto studying for exams. Fortunately I've somehow ended up with only two exams so that's pretty awesome.

Non-pony: Started watching Gravity Falls, it's fantastic! Go watch it if you haven't.

Apart from the direction of the story I have no idea what I'm doing so this should be fun!

Once again it's that time again for SubjectNumber2394's JOURNAL ENTRY!
:iconohmyfluttershyplz: Oh no...

Poni:
-I'm on one week holidays right now so expect quite a bit stuff (hopefully).

-I have 3 ideas for comics but they all involve the Doctor and Dr Who references so I'm not sure I should use them all (at least not in one go). Will start working on one of them straight after I write this anyway.

-Small shoutout to 'Babble With Bronies' ([link] who recently showed some of my work in an episode (which I missed because I'm shocking bad at working out time-zones). There's an archive fortunately. So thank you for showing my work!

-I have an idea for a Tumblr adventure blog which I think could work really well but I know how much work needs to go into them so I'm somewhat hesitant about it. Fortunately I could do it in black and white and it would actually work better with the theme. If I can work out a more simplified style to use then I might give it a go. It just means things here might slow down a little. I guess we'll see what happens.

Non-Poni:
-I recently discovered Florence and the Machine! I have yet to find something of theirs I dislike. My favourite right now is 'Drumming'.

-Been watching the new series of Doctor Who (spoilers throughout this bullet point, avoid if you haven't seen the new series yet). I'm still wondering why the Doctor told Amy to 'make them (the Daleks) remember you' at the beginning of the first episode when it was at the end that the Daleks forgot them. Also what being exposed to the nanobots will do to the doctor; because they made a point of it but never followed through.

-My leg has been through hell and back the last few weeks; infection, had to get it cut up, now I'm on antibiotics and it's almost cleared. So that's been a lesson in health: always see your doctor immediately and not 3 days after you notice 'something odd'.

WELP, it's been a year since I found this fandom on Know Your Meme. I didn't actually start to draw stuff for another two months but I did start watching a year ago. One of the best decisions I've made. Definitely changed my routine up a bit and introduced me to terms I had never heard of, such as 'head-cannon' and 'shipping'. I've never really understood how fandoms worked, I mostly just watched a show or played a game and that was it. From an outsider perspective it looked like a bunch of people on one badly made site talking about their favorite moments of the show/game/story. But this last year has shown me that fandoms are very much different to that. I know this is quite a large, vocal, and active fandom in comparison but the premise is still the same.

Anyway, I'm very glad to be here and part of this one; and I don't see myself leaving anytime soon, this fandom is awesome.

Poni
- I'm working on a few things right now: a comic, a very long picture (1:5 ratio), and an OC thing for Tumblr. Hoping to have finished the comic by Wednesday as it's only 3 frames long and all the sketching is done. Followed by what ever comes first.

- Anyone planning on attending Ponycon next year? If it's at all possible I WILL be there.

Non-Poni
- Mann Vs Machine! It's finally out, and it is awesome. Valve's game finder system sucks though. I have never successfully found a game using it. Every time it's a 20+ minute wait, followed by it either trying to join an out of date server, joining a password-ed server (to which I don't have the password), or in one case just failing to connect. It would then send me back to the game's main menu. So I use the server browser now and it takes about 10 seconds to find a game. If you're having trouble with Valve's game finder try that instead. I'll definitely be playing this game-mode for a while.

-I've started working on what I consider the most difficult picture I've ever done. That is, full environment and multiple characters (5+). I've never really felt confident in trying something like this fearing my consistency issues would show but I felt like giving it a go. It's based off a painting I saw at a barber shop once. I can't seem to find it online anywhere though which is a shame.

-Unfortunately I haven't been up to drawing the past few days; a mix of uni starting again this week, being given a copy of Mass Effect 3, starting Fallout Equestria: Project Horizons (which I can't seem to put down), and a renewed interest in Fallout: New Vegas thanks to a ton of mods I've installed. Right now the aforementioned mentioned piece has been sketched but I'm just too distracted to continue it at the moment :/.

-Anyone remember this? [link] (WARNING: Some language plus CupCakes (Yes that CupCakes)). It turned up in my playlist the other day and I remembered why I used to listen to it. Anyway does anyone know if there is anything else like this? Not even pony related, just a significantly long song with multiple genres and tells a story? I've looked around and while I've found long songs I still can't find anything remotely similar.

-Season 3 episodes: What are people hoping for? I'm hoping Scootaloo and body swap episodes.

Non-Poni:

-2000 watchers 0_o It hit me today while on the bus, two thousand (and 87) of you! /hugs all around!

-I played Slender recently...never again.

Question: Commissions (Edit: Sorted out)

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 5, 2012, 11:43 PM

I've been reluctant about this but I'm nearing 2 years of looking for work and finding nothing. I'm not the only one having problems, I know a few other people who can't find much either. Mostly I've become worried about my tablet which will be 4 years old soon (I don't think I've had a single computer for that long!) and I have no way to replace it right now. It would be nice to have some security in case something happens to it.
So what do you guys think of commissions? I'm still not sure if I'll do them, but I'd like to know what other people think first. Is there any interest?

!-------------------!

Edit: I've been thinking about it most of the night and worked some stuff out, I won't need to do any commissions. If my tablet does stop working (it's shown some minor signs) then I'll be fine. Thanks anyone who expressed interest.
I'll still need to find a job though >_>

Almost been a month since I did one of these.

Poni:
About the Im'pony'ation series; I've had a few comments asking about how it will end and I'm afraid that it wont. By that I mean I don't have an ending planned. Instead it is (and always was) just a series of skits between Pinkie Pie and Chrysalis. There's still one or two (probably one, I'm losing interest) more I want to do but the only ending I can come up with is Twilight and the gang showing up in a giant drill saying "Get in the drill there's no time to explain"....which is terrible. So yeah, probably no ending for now unless I think of something later. :iconpinkiepieshrugplz:

I was going to do a Vinyl/Octavia portrait thing but I've got a couple of ideas for comics which I want to make first.

Non-Poni:
Exams are over so I'll have more time for ponies, which is always a good thing.

For anyone who plays TF2, my strange market gardener reached 'Rage Inducing' which I'm quite proud of. Also 'Meet the Pyro' came out last night and is awesome! An interesting mix of the super happy and colourful 'Pyroland' and the grim, bloody deaths that Pyro is causing in reality. Still no idea what I'm supposed to do with the bananas and lint they gave us though. :/

Journal 07

Journal Entry: Sat Jun 2, 2012, 3:39 PM

A few things have been happening recently, so I guess this is an early journal?

First off, I have been added to Obsession is Magic's 'Hall of Pony' which features different members of the community and has them answer questions such as how they got into the fandom, favorite pony, ect. So if you're interested in knowing more about me for whatever reason you can check it out here: [link]

I'm currently right in the peak of assignments; one was handed in Friday, one is due this Monday (tomorrow), and the last is due Thursday. So expect more activity after that.

My current schedule is: Comic, Bot, Comic, Octavia/Vinyl Scratch portrait.

I got 3 hours of sleep last night but I've also had lots of coffee so it evens out right?

:iconpinkiepiecupcakesplz: Hello everyone!

---Poni---
- Due to other commitments time for drawing is somewhat short at the moment. It'll be like this for the next 3 weeks during the last of my assignments. I'm still drawing whenever I get the chance though.

- At the moment I'm working on another Sweetiebot piece, afterwards I'll most likely be making a comic, and another bot piece (not Sweetiebot). I'll see what happens after that.

- It's a bit redundant putting this here but if you wanted to see my comics on Tumblr the Pony Pun Project has put together this site here ([link] for my comics (the same ones on here). They'll be posted every Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Pony Pun Project is a large collaboration of many different artists and writers. If you're interested in what they do here's the Pun Pony's Tumblr ([link], and the Tumblr for the project itself ([link].

---Non-Poni---
- The main TF2 server I play on has been down for weeks now (if not months I think), makes me very sad. It was having massive lag issues for a while then went offline. Twice now it's come back on for maybe half a day. Ah well, looks like it's GamersUN or GG servers for now. Anyone else play TF2? Any fellow Aussies I should keep an eye out for online?

- Hmmm....I've run out of things to talk about, er...ah! Have some filler material from one of Australia's best comedy groups: [link]

Thanks for reading, and if you're a watcher: Thanks for watching!

Ok so I'm currently stuck inside a pickle because I am terrible at making decisions.

At the moment the idea for this weeks comic consists of two parts, or two punchlines. I think the second one is funnier however it doesn't make sense without the first one. I'm wondering whether it would be better to split it into two comics (pt 1 and pt 2) or keep it as a single, lengthier comic. The problem with the longer comic is that I'm not sure how it would play out hitting the punchline mid way through and then continuing on.

What do you guys think: Single comic? Or a two-part comic?
Been a while since I made one of these.

---Poni---
No episode last weekend so no comic this week, although this works out nicely because I cannot draw this week anyway. I have two assignments due at the end of this week and another one I have to work on due later. So no time for drawing this week.

This next episode(s) is the season finale which looks interesting. I have a vague idea of what I'm going to do after. I will still be making comics just not every week. I will be going back to more time consuming detailed pieces, and some small fun ones. So far I have planned 2 more bot pictures, a large Octavia piece, and a comic which I'm surprised no one has done yet (or maybe they have and it was so bad no one wanted to speak of it) which will make you facepalm....with the desk (facedesk?).

We already know there is going to be a season 3 but does anyone know when it's starting? As in, how long is this break going to be?

---Non-Poni---
I have a new computer which is something I've wanted for about a year and a half, not what I was hoping for but definitely good enough on my budget. What this means of course (apart from no longer using a computer which has had its graphics driver crash several times a week and takes 30 minutes to start up) is that I can finally catch up with the gaming world and play everything I've been wanting to but haven't been able to. Such as Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and some others which I played on 15/20 fps but want to play again properly. So I have a lot of catching up to do.

I just realized the other day that all 3 of my assignments are programming assignments. I don't know how that happened because only one subject is programming. Oh well, I like programming anyway so this is an awesome semester.

:3  <--- Random cat face

aaaand that's all.

Journal 04 aye?

Poni:
- This weeks comic is coming along nicely. Unfortunately uni is taking up much of the first half of the week so really I have Monday, and then Thursday afternoon onward to draw which means I can get most of the sketching out done on Sunday/Monday, then finish it on Thursday night and Friday. So that's my schedule at the moment and for the rest of the semester. Although once we hit the season break and I have no more episodes to make weekly comics of anymore I'll have to work out what I'm going to be drawing.

- I'm happy with the shading on the comics and I'll most likely keep using it for comics and smaller pictures.

- I now have Paint Tool SAI which is making very nice looking lines, also it is WAY better at interpreting the force being pushed on the tablet making it really sensitive (It feels really smooth). Only problem I've found with it so far is that you can't add text, I still have to switch to Photoshop to add text in. :/

Non-Poni:
- At (15 minutes before) time of posting this I have survived another revolution around the sun, and by that I mean I'm another year older.
:iconfluttershyyayplz: yay~
I've received some lovely messages and even some badges from people, so thank you everypony ^^ It's been a good day.

- Caravan Palace released their new album...it's awesome!

Rant 01

Journal Entry: Sat Feb 25, 2012, 4:21 AM

I've always kept rants to myself and my friends who enjoy ranting with me but I feel after everything that's happened today I should throw my 2 cents in.

Ultimately I am saddened that the episode was edited to change Derpy's voice, 'underp' her eyes at times, and exclude Derpy's name. But on the other hand Hasbro, Studio B, and Apple have said nothing about why they did it or who did it. The team at Studio B have even said they are not allowed to say anything on the matter. I don't think anyone should jump to conclusions until we know more on what's happening. It's also important to remember that Derpy is the fandom's character, just because her name has been removed from the show doesn't mean she is 'Dead', she is still alive and well in the fandom and no amount of episode editing can change that.

My reaction to the fandoms reaction: At first I was somewhat disappointed at the number of people jumping to 'Hasbro this', and 'Apple that'. While it is off-putting to see the amount of anger in the community, I can forgive this as merely blowing off steam. These people are just frustrated and this is somewhat of a 'knee-jerk' reaction to the news. Give them a day or two and they'll have cooled down enough to put it behind them, it's what always happens. Remember when Ponyarchive got taken down? It was the same thing with the same reactions. Did anything really change? Nope. After one or two days the fandom moved on.
What I'm very saddened by is people who see these 'knee-jerk' reactions as the 'end of the fandom'. I've seen several people across several sites saying they are leaving the fandom because of the anger from this. I think this is unfair to everyone. People leaving the fandom because of this are leaving because of a highly vocal minority (Similar to why Hasbro may have called for an edit to the episode no?), when they should be seeing the very large portion of the fandom who are thinking with their heads and are keeping calm. Just look at the EQD post and you'll see many people calling for calm. It's also not fair to the people who are being very aggressive to the situation. This fandom has reached a size where a general consensus and consistant behaviour across the entire fandom is impossible. In the early days (before my time), it would have been easy to have every Brony follow the 'Love and Tolerate' in full. These days are over, with so many Brony's there is also just as many personalities and opinions and reactions. Which means everytime something like this comes up there will be people yelling and screaming, there will be people calling for peace, there will be people that say nothing, there will be people supporting and opposing. Every Brony should follow the way of 'Love and Tolerate', but don't expect them to follow it 24/7. I'm going to say it again, people need to vent at times and this was one of them.

The other thing I've now seen is Brony's saying people aren't Brony's because of how they react to the situation. I find this wrong, and I think that thoughts like these are the most anti-brony like thoughts you can have. Just give these people time to clear their heads and they'll be back to their loving and tolerating ways.

On a side note this whole thing has given me an idea for a possible serious comic. I'll just need to see if I can get it to work before deciding whether to undertake it or not.

/Rant over, for the next couple of days until people have calmed or until we hear any official statements from the 3 parties (Hasbro, Apple, Studio B), lets take everything with a grain of salt. Stay friendly my friends.

Also, I found this nifty journal skin.

1 - It's been a terrible week for drawing, I just havn't been able to pick up the stylus and draw. And whenever I foced myself to do something it always turned out really bad :/. I think it's passing now, because I felt like making a silly Derpy gif today and I managed to finish it. I'll upload it after this. So if you're wondering where this weeks comic was...there was no comic. All the good jokes have been done now anyway, and all the good chemisty jokes argon.

2 - Tonight's episode (A Friend in Deed) looks interesting, we may get that 'Smile Smile Smile' song which was leaked a while back that everyone who listened to it said was awesome. I didn't listen to it though so it'll be interesting to hear what it's like. Also I think 'Ask Surprise' puts what will happen after this episode best: [link]

Non-poni:
3 - I mentioned in my last journal that university would start again soon. Well that 'soon' is now 10 days, the countdown has begun. My timetable looks pretty good apart from a 4 hour gap between lectures on wednesday >_>.

4 - With all these Doctor Whooves jokes and paradies running around I thought I'd try Doctor Who. I had only ever heard about it but always wanted to try it.  By about half way through the first season it had been placed above Stargate in my list of favourite sci-fi TV shows, making it my favourite sci-fi show. It has everything I love; an eccentric main character, time travel, a large stroy arc covering all the episodes while keeping each episode watchable by itself, it's also not afraid to do big things. A space ship crashing into Big Ben? Sure! A third of the human race being wiped out? Why not? The universe ceasing to exist? I'm sure we can fit it in somewhere. Also If you're wondering I'm talking about the new series, no idea where you would even get the old series from anymore.

Short journal is short.

^ I'm good with titles am I not?

I have returned to whence I started after leaving to visit family. It was a ton of fun; went fishing, saw a movie (Hugo, it's fantastic go see it!), got to catch up with a friend who lives there. Now, onto this year!

1: I'm very late right now with drawings/comics. The comic for the last episode has only just been storyboarded so it'll most likely be done around Friday or Saturday. The picture I have been working on is pretty much done. I'll upload it in an hour or two, I just need to double check I havn't forgotten anything. Then I've got to work out what to do next, I've got too many ideas, too much stuff to do >_<.

2: Speaking of the last episode (at time of writing this), 'Baby Cakes'. I wasn't really a fan of this episode, I did laugh a few times at Pinkie's antics and that horror scene was awesome but I found the explanation to why the two young ones had such powers to be quite weak. At that age they shouldn't have any powers really. I can understand if they just periodically released small amounts of magic, but they had near perfect control over it and an understanding of what they were doing. Lauren Faust offered the explanation that they could control the magic through 'instinct', but for something as complex as magic I don't think 'instinct' would work. I know I'm over-analysing but that's what I do, it's how I come up with most of my ideas for comics. It's also why it can be hard for me to enjoy movies and even some books; I will over-analyse the crap out of them, then point to the crap and say "Here's where you went wrong". Anyway, I have an idea for this episodes comic which combines two parts of the episode. One of which has already had a comic and several jokes made about it.

3: I have a Tumblr blag! I'm mostly using it to follow the 'ask x' pony blags but I'll also be using it as a personal blag for anything that doesn't make it here. This includes sketches, stuff I wont finish, and non-pony stuff (there will be very little of this). It will also be home to my OC which I've been very tempted to get. I know there can be a real stigma around OC characters so I'll be putting a damn amount of effort into this character to make sure they're made properly. I can understand (and have no problem with) over the top, 'mary-sue', blindingly colourful OC's who are alicorns with batwings IF they are kept within the area of the person who made it (as in the back of their computer), but this one will be pretty much be the face of my blag (Similar to what Slugbox's OC Cteno started as) so I have to be more careful. I'll be looking at the successful OC's (like Cteno, Velvet, LittlePip) to see what they did right and also be looking at what to avoid. I know OC's aren't everyone's cup of coffee so that's why it will be on my blag and not here. You will not see my OC on DeviantArt! If you're wondering 'Why do you need an OC?', two reasons: One, they can be really fun if done right! Two (the more important reason), I really want something to draw when I don't feel like drawing anything cannon or fannon, but which is still pony.

I havn't done much with it yet but if you want to follow it or be a lurker you can find it here: [link]

4: Uni starts again soon, once it does it'll mean less time for pony >_<. Hopfully it won't take long to get into a routine which will make things easier to balance.

5: Number of watchers has doubled in the last month 0_o.......the watchers have been doubled! Sorry.... : D  Anyway the ball's in my court now, I must not disappoint!
